Bora Bora

We spent the last two days in Bora Bora, and wow – was it beautiful! We took an excursion the first morning. Namely, we went by catamaran around the island. The views of Bora Bora from the water were spectacular. We even passed some overwater bungalows.

The first hour on the catamaran was spent mostly basking in the sun as we toured around the island.

We sprawled out on the trampolines (the ropes that covered the water at the back of the boat), which was cool since we could hear and see the water below us as we cruised along.

After about an hour we stopped for some swimming / snorkeling. The water was warm and clear. There weren’t a lot of fish where we were, but getting in the water and just floating around was relaxing, especially after the hour of sunbathing.

After everybody had their fill of water time, we headed back. On our way back they served us fresh fruit and rum punch (fruit juice for the boys).

The stunning views of Bora Bora never became old.

After the excursion we went back on-board Insignia for lunch. Afterwards, John and I went back on shore (the boys opted to pass and instead did some schoolwork and relaxed a bit on the ship). We did a little roaming around… what a lovely bright yellow church, eh?

We also did some shopping, including a shirt for John and a pearl necklace for me. I like that it is a more ‘casual’ pearl necklace so I can wear it with my dresses / outfits rather than having to be super fancy shmancy.

We then walked to a local eatery / bar (Saint James) and played some Yahtzee, had some drinks, and watched the sun go down.  This was definitely the best views we have ever had while rolling dice!

Once we were back on board, we had dinner – complete with some coconut water straight from the nut.

The ship had a special presentation in the evening consisting of local dancers, which was a fun treat.

On the second day, we mostly relaxed. Ryan and I wandered around Bora Bora and pretty much replicated what John and I did, except substituting Qwixx as the game instead of Yahtzee – and no sunset since we had to be back on the ship by 3:30.

All in all, we loved Bora Bora. It is most definitely a paradise on earth. Want to know more about Bora Bora? Check out the ten fast facts I compiled – here).
