Nagasaki on Easter Sunday

We arrived in Nagasaki, Japan on Easter Sunday. This was a relaxing day for us. We had to go through immigration again because we were re-entering Japan after our brief stop in South Korea. It was also a little more complicated as this was the location Rook and Audrey were departing from. So, we took care of all of that in the morning, played a game (Sagrada) on the ship, and took our time heading off.

We did explore a little in Nagasaki, and found it to be a quiet, welcoming city. We walked to Chinatown and to a nearby shrine.

We stopped at a 7-11 for some quick treats. Seaweed chips, melon Fanta, and some other unique treats are hard to pass up! At this point, Rook and I went back to the ship while Audrey and John wandered a little further and saw a nearby garden.

As a quick aside, it’s worth sharing a few photos of the Easter display that Oceania had onboard Insignia. They do such a lovely job of showcasing various events (as they did for the Superbowl, the Academy Awards, St. Patrick’s Day), and Easter was no exception. They had a chocolate spread with bunnies and Easter eggs, and some Cadbury eggs for guests. See if you can find the bunny with the ears bitten off (by one of the guests). (When Matthew learned who bit the ears off, his reaction was priceless… “HE’S A GROWN MAN!” Hahaha!)

Around 4pm, it was time to say goodbye to Rook and Audrey, who headed off to their hotel for the evening. Even though they only had one bag each, the taxi had a hard time fitting their bags!

Thankfully, they (along with their bags) made it safely to their hotel (and ultimately safely back home). It was a lovely trip with them, and fun was had by all!

One last random fun thing – at many ports, they have people who come and welcome us as well as people who come and see us off. At Nagasaki, they had a band play for us as we left port. Fun, right?
